Fallbrook High School is heading in to Week Seven of the Prep Pigskin Report feeling like Warriors after garnering their first win of the season last Friday.
They will be traveling to Escondido High School this week for a Valley League conference game against the Cougars, who is coming off a nail-biter loss to Hilltop High School.
In game history, these two teams have crossed paths a total of eight times with almost a split record of three wins for Fallbrook, four wins for Escondido, and a tie back in 2010. Their most recent interaction was last season with the Cougars coming out on top 27-13.
Fallbrook has had its fair share of a rough seasons, going (1-9, 0-4) last year and being at (1-5, 0-1) this year halfway through the season, but it’s always difficult for a new coach to transition in. Darius Pricket is only in his second season as head coach for the Warriors, and has high hopes for his team. As the famous saying goes, Results over time. Not over night.
Escondido finished the 2016 season (2-8, 1-3) also with a new head coach. Jud Bordman has been with the Cougar program for years, but is in his second year, officially holding the title as head coach. The Cougars have a relatively young program and even have a freshman starting at quarterback, Robbie Ramos Jr. The heart of the team falls with senior running back Kevin Rodriguez, who leads the team in rushing yards and touchdowns.
There was no injury report for either team and both are expected to be playing with full, active rosters.
Highlights of this game and 33 others from around San Diego County can be seen on the Emmy-Award winning high school football show "Prep Pigskin Report." Kick off is at 10:30 every Friday night during the fall on KUSI-TV Channel 9/51. Live streaming of the show will also be available on KUSI.com.by Ashley Washburn
